The Three Brethren

Welcome to The Three Brethren

The u3a is a national organisation for adults of the “third age”; those persons past full time employment and/or parental responsibilities. The u3a motto is “Learn, Laugh, Live”. If you are retired, part-retired or about to retire you are welcome to join us.

The Three Brethren u3a is primarily based in Galashiels but members come from all around - Clovenfords, Earlston, Galashiels, Hawick, Jedburgh, Melrose, Tweedbank, St Boswells,  Selkirk, Stow and more.

Founded in March 2007 we have grown steadily to a current membership of around 300. Our annual membership is £10 per individual member. If you want to know more about joining The Three Brethren u3a, go to the Membership page. Your membership entitles you to attend as many monthly meetings as you like and to join as many groups as you choose.

Monthly Meetings are held on the third Monday of each month at the Galashiels Rugby Club, Nether Road, Galashiels. The meetings begin at 2 pm and there is usually a speaker on a wide variety of subjects. See our EVENTS page. Then there is time for socialising when refreshments are available.

Interest Groups are an integral feature of our u3a. We offer a choice of more than 25 which meet together regularly to participate in a subject of mutual interest. Each group has a Facilitator who takes on the responsibility for organising and bringing it all together. You may join as many groups as you wish, subject to the group’s capacity.

Groups reflect the members' interests and cover a wide range of interests: educational, cultural, recreational and social. Everything from Bridge to Books to German to Pickleball.
For more information check the GROUPS page.
